Managing Persistent Back, Neck & Shoulder Discomfort

Julie first came to see me after experiencing ongoing problems with her back, neck and shoulders. She had originally booked a massage elsewhere but felt she needed a more focused approach to the muscular tension and discomfort she was experiencing.

“I didn’t feel that the massage I had was deep enough to address the problems I was experiencing, and then I noticed that a sports therapist was employed there, so I booked in with Mark.”

Julie was managing several ongoing musculoskeletal issues, including back discomfort associated with disc protrusions, neck and shoulder tension and occasional problems around the elbow.
Initially, treatment was more regular, with sessions tailored to the areas that were causing her the most difficulty. As things improved, appointments became less frequent and focused more on managing muscular tension and staying comfortable.

“Initially, I had a series of treatments over a few months to get on top of the problems with the rotator cuffs in my shoulders and muscle tightness in my neck and back. Then we progressed to having top-ups that helped to maintain the work he’d previously done.”

Treatment has also included advice and exercises that Julie can use between appointments.

“Mark has given help and recommendations on exercises and alternatives.”

Julie found that combining hands-on treatment with at-home advice helped her take a more active role in managing her feelings.

“The treatment I received from Mark has helped to release the tension and knots in my muscles, whilst also advising how I can maintain this myself, which is of great use.”

Julie enjoys staying active through Pilates, yoga, gym classes and everyday life, so supporting her ability to keep moving comfortably has remained an important part of her treatment.

“I would definitely recommend Mark. He is very professional, personable and brilliant at his job. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge.”
